SBIA 2018 RETAILER OF THE YEAR
Corner Surf Shop was awarded the 2018 Retailer of the Year from the SBIA Banquet and Awards night held in Sydney, Coogee Beach.
After 42 years in the business it is heartwarming to be recognised as Australia's best stand alone surf shop with a prestigious national industry award. Owners Suzi and Sam Salmond have poured so much heart and soul into their business over the past years and have helped create a local community in which people come together.
Sam was Geraldton born and raised man who had a passion for surfing and mentoring young inspiring surfers who needed guidance not only in the ocean but also through life. He was always a positive influence in the community and was a qualified surf coach as well as establishing WA's first Junior Development Club in Geraldton. His life was the ocean, his community and his family.
After losing Sam in 2016 from mesothelioma, Suzi carried on the stores legacy with her amazing team and two daughters. Suzi was determined to stay current and expand Corner Surf with her new venture of collaborating with Wildbrand to create a web store to take Corner Surf online and grow its customer base.
Three years since Sam's passing and the store is still such an iconic part of Geraldton. Suzi's hard work and passion for the business is a true credit to Corner Surf's success.
Winning SBIA's 2018 Retailer of the Year is not only an honour to Sam's legacy but also to Suzi and the Corner Surf team.
From the bottom of our hearts, we are so thankful for our incredible customers. For the ones who have been shopping with us since children and have now grown up and had children of their own and still shopping with us as grandparents. The stores success would be nothing without our loyal customer base. So truly, whole heartedly, thank you for your support.
We look forward to what 2019 has in store for us because we can only become bigger and better.
